The Activities
A Program to Support women researchers in a global society Preparing an environment in which women researchers can make the most of their abilities.
Program focuses on the Faculty of Science & Technology and women researchers will be widely recruited. We hope to increase the number of women researchers, and at the same time bring the school closer to full gender equality. This is a major objective of the Program to Support Women Researchers in a Global Society.
The program will ensure that women researchers are able to bear children, raise families, care for family members who are ill or elderly and so on, without having to risk their careers or give up their research. The international network and resources available at Sophia shall be utilized in measures to improve the capacity of young women in the research area and we will aim to produce results that will have global implications.
By improving the ratio of women researchers and assuring women a place to carry out their research, we aim to appeal to women currently studying at Sophia as well as to those hoping to be accepted by the university, and raise their interest in participating in the research field.
Sophia plans to nurture and encourage women researchers who will be competent in global society. Hopefully Sophia’s program will be a model for other universities.
