2. Seminars for Gender Equality
The goal of this seminar is to cultivate a workstyle that would hopefully spread through the entire university enabling women researchers to have careers that balance well with their personal lives. To achieve this, it is important for everyone to understand the difficulties during certain periods of pregnancy, childrearing, and caring for family who may be elderly or sick. Pioneers in this area within and outside of Sophia will be invited to speak to all of our students and staff in an attempt to promote further gender equality.

3. Supporting Colloquium for Female Students
Women working as researchers in various organizations will be invited to attend and discuss their experiences and the situations in the places where they work. The goal will be to increase the number of undergraduates and graduates seeking to become researchers, as well as to give them concrete images of the sorts of careers they can aspire to.

"Career Path to be an Academic Researcher"

Venue : Bldg.3 , 3rd Floor, Room 376Dr. Hayase talked about the general career path for researchers - Graduate studies, Post-Doctoral studies, and being a researcher - introducing her own version as well. She seemed to be seen as a wonderful role model for female students as she produced research results without inhibition in spite of rarity of female scientists in physics. Attendees asked down-to-earth questions such as how it is to proceed to the doctor’s course, or necessity of English in scientific careers.

Venue : Build. 2, 5th Floor, room510This Colloquium was held as Supporting Colloquium for female Students for Broader Career Opportunities, and as a part of Child-Rearing Support. Ms. Miyano talked frankly about various topics such as support system of her company in child-rearing, difficulties as a working mother, or the support from the surroundings. One she said, 'What you can't do well is noticed, but the what you can do is taken for granted', which was well received. It was a very informative talk both for female students and child-rearing faculty staffs.

At the free discussion, students asked her about her school life, why she choose to be a researcher, or the reason why she decided to take her doctor’s degree with working, and to all she answered politely in detail. -
